Prevention Programs
Adult Hepatitis Immunization Program (New York)
Provides vaccine for free hepatitis A and B immunization in county STD clinics. Reviewed 4/18/08

AID Atlanta's Men's STD Clinic (Atlanta, GA)
Provides STD screening and treatment services in conjunction with its wide range of HIV prevention and care services. Referrals for treatment and social/emotional support services are also offered by prevention specialists to those who test positive for HCV and/or HIV. Services are available primarily for DeKalb and Fulton Counties in the metro Atlanta area. Reviewed 4/4/08

BESTD (Brady EAST STD) Clinic (Milwaukee, WI)
Offers their clients free screening and immunization for hepatitis A and B. Reviewed 4/4/08

Community Health Care Van (New Haven, CT)

The Prince George's Hepatitis B Program has engaged in additional efforts to serve the community. They are currently assisting the TB Control program in vaccinating immigrants entering the County. They are also vaccinating patients ages 19 years and older who come in for STD services. Reviewed 5/14/08

HIV and Hepatitis Program, Panhandle Community Services Health Center (Nebraska)
Offers hepatitis C testing and hepatitis B vaccination to clients, including outreach to high-risk settings such as detox centers. Reviewed 9/8/08

Injection Drug User (IDU) HIV Counseling and Testing Utilizing hepatitis C virus (HCV) Screening High-Risk Initiative (CA)
The objective is to increase the number of IDUs who receive HIV counseling and testing by offering hepatitis C testing as an incentive and subsequently assisting HCV-positive persons with appropriate HCV prevention information. Reviewed 2/4/08

Minnesota Department of Health, HIV/STD Prevention Provider Site Immunization Program
Provides free hepatitis B vaccine to clients at 8 HIV/STD Prevention Provider sites and free hepatitis A vaccine at 2 sites. Reviewed 1/28/08

Missouri Hepatitis Vaccination Initiative
Hepatitis A and B vaccination program for identified risk groups. Targeted hepatitis C testing also provided through collaboration with multiple entities. Reviewed 8/14/07

Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services
Provides limited free hepatitis C testing and counseling to all high-risk state residents. Reviewed 9/11/08

New Mexico Hepatitis Prevention Program

Integrating Viral Hepatitis Prevention into Public Health Settings

The Seattle STD/HIV Prevention Training Center and the University of Washington announced the release of Hepatitis Web Study, a website designed for healthcare workers who provide clinical care to persons with viral hepatitis. This project was funded by CDC's Division of Viral Hepatitis. The website features:

  • Fourteen interactive, clinically-relevant case studies, each with a discussion, high quality illustrations and graphics, and links, that highlight and illustrate key recommendations from national guidelines;
  • Free continuing education credits, including an easy way to print CME/CNE documentation and an electronic CE tracker;
  • Numerous high quality figures that the user can easily download into PowerPoint slides;
  • Reference linked to Pub Med abstracts, federal guidelines sites, and/or CDC MMWR documents.
